SODEICO, a company specializing in recruitment and outsourcing qualified personnel is

recruiting “A Financial Officer” who will run all the finance operations of the DRC office and provide financial support to the Country Director.  He must be a dynamic, pro-active and ambitious individual. Capable of meeting challenges and achieving predefined objectives.
This person will be placed under the authority of the Country Director.

Poste et missions

He/She will:

•Maintain the financial integrity of the client's operations in DRC; 

•Assist the Head Office in setting up transparent financial systems, controls and procedures in the DRC office to allow effective financial monitoring, control and accountability.Once these systems are in place the Finance Director will maintain and improve them as necessary.

•Ensure full compliance with all relevant policies & procedures of the DRC office and Head Office particularly concerning cash, advances, banking, procurementand assets. This will include ensuring that other staff members follow the policies correctly.

•Record all income and expenditure for the DRC office project activities and provide assistance with forecasting and budget revisions as required by organization management;

•Make all bank and petty cash payments for the DRC office in accordance with Company policies.

•Maintain the financial records of the DRC office. 

•Report monthly and quarterly management accounts, detailing income, expenditure, variance from budget with commentary and cash & bank reconciliations within the timeframes set by Head Office. 

•Prepare monthly and quarterly cash flow forecasts for the DRC office. Use these forecasts to prepare monthly fund requests from Head Office. 

•Ensure that all financial information required by donors / external auditors is provided to the Head Office within the timeframes set by Head Office;

•Provide financial guidance to project staff in DRC and assist the management team by providing financial oversight. This will include preparing a monthly briefing for the Country Director on the financial results for the month, actual spending compared to budget and other significant items. 

•Ensure full compliance with DRC's taxation, financial reporting and human resources legislation and requirements and advise the company staff as appropriate on any financial or legislative changes in DRC that may affect the organisation's operations.

•Maintain good lines of communication with the finance team in Head Office including taking part in weekly update calls

?Assist with any other tasks required by the Country Director of the Head Office finance team.

. Please note there is no administrative support for this position so the Finance Director must be willing to complete all administrative tasks necessary for the running of the finance office. 

Profil et compétences requises


•Effective communication skills, you should be committed to working in a demanding, collaborative environment;

•Good interpersonal skills to establish effective working relationships with the company staff and key stakeholders externally;  
•Proven management skills;  
•Ability to meet deadlines in a high-pressure environment and good organisational skills;
•Willingness and ability to take the initiative not only in identifying problems but also in suggesting and implementing solutions;
•An eye for detail and a concern for accuracy, together with the ability to keep sight of the broad picture. 
Masters degree or professional qualification in finance, accounting or a similar subject. We may consider candidates with no formal qualifications who have extensive work experience in similar roles.  
•Qualified to work as a professional accountant in DRC, and with at least 5 years experience working as a professional accountant;
•Experience of working in the NGO/international development sector and communicating with a head office based abroad is an asset.
Fluency in French and basic English, both written and spoken is required; advanced English skills are highly desirable. 
- Excellent IT skills, including experience of operating computer-based financial management systems, preferably Quick Books.  Competent to advanced level in Microsoft Excel;
